Tom Clover will be the new name on the list of trainers in Newmarket when he sets up in business at Wroughton Stables in the autumn
The 30-year-old will be working in partnership with Jackie Jarvis, daughter of the late Classic-winning trainer Michael Jarvis.
Having assisted trainer David Simcock in the town for the past six years, Clover has also had experience of the National Hunt side of racing as assistant to Charlie Longsdon in Oxfordshire. Jarvis, who rode out and worked for her father for many years, has continued to work for his successor at Newmarket's Kremlin Stables, Roger Varian, for whom she oversaw website development and PR initiatives.
The couple will be leasing a 25-box yard situated at the base of Warren Hill and will leave their current jobs in September.
“Training racehorses is something I have dreamt about for a long time and I am looking forward to branching out on my own along with Jackie,” said Clover.
“I have thoroughly enjoyed my time with David and Jennie Simcock, who are great role models. They work exceptionally hard and their results speak for themselves. I feel lucky to have been part of their team, working with lovely horses and good staff. I have learnt a lot from them.
“Both Jackie and I are fully aware of the challenges ahead but we are excited about the prospect and can't wait to get going.”
