Leading G1 2000 Guineas hopeful Winker Watson (GB) (Piccolo {GB}) was yesterday reported to be suffering “stiffness” by connections. The news was broken about last year's G2 Norfolk S. and G2 July S. winner on the betting exchange betfair, which was founded by part-owner Andrew Black. The statement read, “We would like to inform our customers that the owners of Winker Watson have contacted us to report that the horse has experienced some stiffness today. We will post a further update as and when one is available.” Trainer Peter Chapple-Hyam had announced his plan on Friday to take the colt to Newmarket next week for a racecourse gallop over the Guineas course and distance.
