Gary and Mary West's Top Clearance (Majestic Warrior) has been added to the list of contenders who will take on Triple Crown winner American Pharoah (Pioneerof the Nile) in the Aug. 2 GI William Hill Haskell Invitational. A maiden winner at Churchill Downs while making his third career start June 13, the bay colt is coming off a one-length allowance victory at Monmouth Park July 11.
“He worked the other day and was excellent,” said trainer Wayne Catalano. “He is already stabled at Monmouth now. We aren't going to do too much with him before the race.”
The field for the Haskell is also likely to include: Competitive Edge (Super Saver), Mr. Jordan (Kantharos), War Story (Northern Afleet), Keen Ice (Curlin), and Tekton (Bernardini).
