Unsurprisingly, Coolmore's perennial leading sire Galileo (Ire) is set to cover another standout book of mares in 2017. The strength of his book was evidenced this week when, in the space of 36 hours, he covered five top-class mares: Kind (Ire) (Danehill), the dam of his Group 1 winners Frankel (GB) and Noble Mission (GB); You'resothrilling (Storm Cat), the dam of his Classic winners Gleneagles (Ire) and Marvellous (Ire); La Traviata (Johannesburg), the dam of Irish and Yorkshire Oaks winner Seventh Heaven (Ire) (Galileo {Ire}); dual G1 Coolmore Nunthorpe S. winner Mecca's Angel (Ire) (Dark Angel {Ire}); and Chintz (Ire) (Danehill Dancer {Ire}), the dam of last year's G1 Poule d'Essai des Poulains and G1 Sussex S. winner The Gurkha (Ire) (Galileo {Ire}), who is this season covering his first book at Coolmore alongside his sire.

The Gurkha has also attracted a quality book of mares, and breeders using both him and his sire this year include The Niarchos Family, Anita and James Wigan, John Gunther, Saleh Al Homaizi and Imad Al Sagar, Whisperview Trading, Newsells Park Stud and Ecurie de Monceaux.

The first foals by champion 2-year-old and Classic winner Gleneagles are hitting the ground this season, and breeders supporting him include Haras d'Etreham, Denford Stud, The Wertheimer Brothers, George Strawbridge, Saleh Al Homaizi and Imad Al Sagar, Bjorn Nielson, Airlie Stud, Juddmonte Farms, Moyglare Stud, Whisperview Trading and Newsells Parks Stud.
