Trainer Cox Handed Lengthy Ban

Wodonga trainer Brian Cox has been banned for 3 1/2 years after being found guilty of eight charges including administration and possession of banned substances and improper conduct, according to Racing.com.

Cox was charged with four counts of administration of the anabolic steroid Nitrotain to two horses in his care last August, and he was also charged with improper or dishonourable conduct towards stewards after becoming violent when learning he was to be charged.

Dr. Robert Fielding, the vet who provided Cox with the Nitrotain, avoided a ban after large number of witnesses provided strong character references. He was instead fined A$20,000.
