TRF Launches 2017 Hay Drive With $50K Matching Gift Challenge

The Thoroughbred Retirement Foundation has secured a $50,000 matching gift challenge from the Geoffrey Hughes Foundation to launch its 2017 Hay Drive. The GHF will match every gift received by the TRF up to $50,000 for its Hay Drive campaign which launches Sept. 11. The TRF's goal for the 2017 Hay Drive is $300,000 to cover the cost of hay for the close to 800 horses in its care throughout the winter of 2017-2018.

“We are extremely grateful to the Geoffrey Hughes Foundation. This generous challenge gift and vote of confidence will inspire donors especially those who wish to double the impact of their gift.” said Diana Pikulski National Director of Major Giving for TRF. “It will go a long way towards helping us meet our overall need and goal.”

The campaign will be conducted by direct mail, email and social media as well as one-on-one donation requests.

“Hay is one of our largest horse care expenses and the most important element of a horse's diet, especially in the winter.” added Jennifer Stevens, Development Director of the TRF. “The matching gift gets our critical campaign off to a great start.”
