Harold Lerner's GIII Southwest S. runner-up The Truth or Else (Yes It's True) worked five furlongs in 1:00.40 at Oaklawn Wednesday. Fourth last time in the GII Rebel S. Mar. 14, the Ken McPeek pupil is pointing towards the GI Arkansas Derby Apr. 11.
Ridden by Calvin Borel, the chestnut worked in company with 4-year-old maiden I'mbetterthangood (Exchange Rate), and was clocked in splits of :11.80, :23.80 and :36.40. He galloped out six furlongs in 1:13.60.
“He worked excellent,” McPeek said. “We were sharpening him up. He acted like he needed it, too.”
