Godolphin could have a very strong hand in Saturday's G1 Al Shaqab Lockinge S. following their recent acquisition of two possible runners Dutch Connection (GB) (Dutch Art {GB}) and Home Of The Brave (Ire) (Starspangledbanner {Aus}). Both horses will remain with their current trainers Charlie Hills and Hugo Palmer, respectively, with Godolphin keen on strengthening their hand in the international top-level mile division.
John Ferguson, Godolphin's racing manager and chief executive, said, “Both Dutch Connection and Home Of The Brave are excellent horses, who will give us more depth in the ranks in our attempt to win the top one-mile and seven-furlong races in the calendar this year. They present us with plenty of interesting options.”
Ferguson will adopt a global outlook when helping to plan a campaign for both horses that he hopes will ultimately lead to stallion careers for each and added, “They give us the chance to be competitive in the top international races later in the year, not only in Europe, but America, Asia and Australia, as well. The 'miler' division produces some outstanding stallion material, but for the time being, we are focused on their racing careers and what they can achieve for Godolphin on the racecourse in 2016.”
