Godolphin's Ultra (Ire) (Manduro {Ger}), the unbeaten winner of the G1 Qatar Prix Jean-Luc Lagardere, will bypass the G1 Qipco 2000 Guineas Apr. 30 in favour of the June 4 G1 Investec Derby.
“Ultra will not take up his entry in the Qipco 2000 Guineas–he will have a prep race before running in the Derby,” said trainer Andre Fabre, who saddled Pour Moi (Ire) (Montjeu {Ire}) to victory in the Epsom Classic in 2011.
Ultra, a 20-1 shot for the Derby, broke his maiden at Clairfontaine July 25 and added a Longchamp conditions race in September before taking the Lagardere when last seen Oct. 4.
