Trainer Christophe Clement said yesterday that GII First Lady S. winner Vacare (Lear Fan) is likely to skip the Breedersí Cup, and instead head to California for her next start. ìShe came out of her race in good order,î Clement said. ìI now have to talk things over with the owners. It will either be the Breeders' Cup or the Matriarch at Hollywood Park [GI, Nov. 25]. The Matriarch is more likely. That gives us more time between races, it is run at a better distance for her and the ground may be better for her. We will make a decision this week.î The GI BC F/M Turf is contested at 11 furlongs, while the Matriarch will be run at a flat mile this year. Vacare, six-for-eight lifetime, is two-for-two at a mile, but has never raced beyond 1 1/8 miles.
