Varian Being Patient With ‘Glance’

Last year’s G1 Moyglare Stud S. winner Cursory Glance (Distorted Humor) is moving towards a comeback, according to trainer Roger Varian, but the Newmarket conditioner stressed he is in no rush with his former G1 1000 Guineas favorite when issuing an update Sunday. Cursory Glance was forced to the sidelines for the first part of the season after suffering a
training setback in January.

“We had hoped to bring her back for Ascot, but it has taken longer than we had hoped to get her back,” he explained.
“She has been making nice progress at home and her form has been franked left right and center, but she will tell us when she is ready to go.”

Cursory Glance was beaten just once in four outings last year, when second to the speedy Tiggy Wiggy (Ire) (Kodiac {GB}) in the G2 Lowther S. in August. That effort was bookended by a victory over Wesley Ward’s subsequent GII Sorrento S. and GI Del Mar Debutante S. victress Sunset Glow (Exchange Rate) in the G3 Albany S. at Royal Ascot, and her Moyglare score over 1000 Guineas second Lucida (Ire) (Shamardal) and subsequent G1 Prix Marcel Boussac winner Found (Ire) (Galileo {Ire}).
