A new record was set for the Tattersalls February sale on Friday when Classic prospect Willie John (GB) (Dansili {GB}-Izzi Top {GB}, by Pivotal {GB}) (lot 379) was bought by trainer Roger Varian on behalf of Sheikh Mohammed Obaid for 1.9-million guineas. Previously in training with William Haggas, Willie John was being offered as part of the selection of horses owned in part by Mayfair Speculators. A 325,000gns yearling in this ring at the October Sale two years ago, Willie John was a winner in his lone outing at Yarmouth on Oct. 16 for Markus Jooste and China Horse Club.
