+SWEET VICTORY (f, 2, Blame–My Mammy {SP}, by Came Home) did, in fact, earn a sweet victory in her debut at Gulfstream Park West Sunday. The Virginia-bred was purchased by George Bolton and Peter Leidel for $285,000 at the Fasig-Saratoga sale and has boasted a solid worktab from Palm Beach Downs this fall for trainer Todd Pletcher. The 3-1 chance broke on top and set an uncontested early quarter in :23.67 from along the rail. She was pressured through a half in :48.25 and opened up at the top of the lane. Sweet Victory extended her winning margin down the stretch to finish 6 1/4 comfortable lengths ahead of favored Fired Up Sensation (Zensational). Sweet Victory is the third foal out of the stakes placed My Mammy, who is a half-sister to GISW Bandini (Fusaichi Pegasus). The stakes placed second dam, Divine Dixie (Dixieland Band), is a half-sister to the successful sire Stormy Atlantic. My Mammy has a yearling filly by Blame–named Moonshine Lullaby–and a Giant's Causeway weanling filly. She will be bred back to Hard Spun. Sales history: $285,000 Ylg '14 FTSAUG. Lifetime Record: 1-1-0-0, $24,000. Click for the Equibase.com chart or VIDEO, sponsored by Fasig-Tipton.
