Black Rock Stables’s Violence (Medaglia d’Oro), second in Saturday’s GII Besilu Stables Fountain of Youth S., is off the Derby Trail after sustaining a fracture to his right front medial sesamoid. He is currently resting at Gulfstream Park, and will be shipped to owner Steven Marshall’s farm in Versailles, KY for further evaluation and recovery. “It’s such a disappointment to see such a promising colt sustain an injury,” said trainer Todd Pletcher of the GI CashCall Futurity winner. “He’s been training beautifully and made such an impressive effort in his second-place finish yesterday.”
