A rare purchase at public auction for Sam-Son Farm, the debuting Journey Home (f, 2, War Front–Soul Search, by A.P. Indy) came steaming down the center of the track in the final half-furlong to get her career off to a promising beginning Friday afternoon at Laurel Park. Bet into 5-2 second favoritism from a 9-2 morning line, theĀ $200,000 Keeneland September graduateĀ settled slightly worse than midfield and began to improve to within striking distance as they circled the far turn. A bit one-paced in upper stretch, she jumped into the bridle at the furlong grounds and rolled home to catch pacesetting Via Frattina (Street Cry {Ire}) in the dying strides. The winner's dam was runner-up to Asi Siempre (El Prado {Ire}) in the 2006 GI Juddmonte Spinster S. and third to Fleet Indian (Indian Charlie) in that year's GI Personal Ensign S.
