War Front Half to Uncle Mo Graduates at Gulfstream

War Front

EDITORIAL (c, 3, War Front&log=">War Front–Playa Maya {SP}, by Arch), a half-brother to super-sire Uncle Mo (Indian Charlie), MGISW, $1,506,000, got up in the waning strides to graduate second out at Gulfstream. Just missing by a head as the heavy favorite in his course-and-distance debut at Gulfstream, the bay was hammered down to 2-5 to go one better here and came away well to stalk in fourth past a :24.87 quarter. Dropping back one spot through a :49.05 half, the chalk started to get going three-wide midway around the far turn, but pacesetter Gemologister (Gemologist) cut the corner well and still had a big cushion at the eighth pole. Editorial kept plugging away though, and he nailed the frontrunner in the shadow of the wire by a neck, running the 7 1/2 furlongs in 1:30.50. The winner's dam foaled his full-sister last season. Lifetime Record: 2-1-1-0, $32,760. O-Derrick Smith, Ms. John Magnier & Michael Tabor; B-Playa Maya Syndicate (KY); T-Todd A. Pletcher.
