With her game third-place effort in Saturday's GI TVG Breeders' Cup Mile, Goldikova (Ire) (Anabaa) has been retired to the broodmare band of Alain and Gerard Wertheimer, and the brothers added another high-class mare to their operation after acquiring 2008 GI Acorn S. winner Zaftig (m, 6, Gone West–Zoftig, by Cozzene) for $1.4 million. The grey mare was consigned to the Fasig-Tipton November sale by Hill 'n' Dale Sales Agency, agent. Also the winner of the GIII Nassau County S. and third in the Breeders' Cup Filly and Mare Sprint in 2008, Zaftig has one produce to day, an A.P. Indy filly that was sold for $275,000 at Keeneland September this year. She was sold in foal to Candy Ride (Arg).
