The ITBA Expo '18, scheduled for Jan. 26-27, will feature a “What If–Forum”, focusing on a vision for the industry based on a secure funding mechanism. The forum, centered around the concept of “what if we had an additional €50 million”, will be opened by Mairead McGuinness MEP, Vice President of the European Parliament discussing the implications of BREXIT on Ireland and Terence O'Rourke, Chairman of Enterprise Ireland will address the attendees on why the Government should support indigenous business. During the panel discussion, panellists Joe Foley, Jessica Harrington, Eddie O'Leary, Joe Osborne and Louis Romanet will share their views from various facets of the industry. Elizabeth Headon will also sit on the panel to discuss the betting tax.
Commenting on the forum, ITBA Chairman Stephen Collins said, “A lot of people don't realise the enormous contribution our industry makes to the economy, let alone realise the potential we have to expand. With a secure funding mechanism we would significantly grow on the already impressive baseline figures highlighted in the recent Economic Impact of Irish Breeding and Racing 2017. I am looking forward to the views of the panel and the discussion on what we could achieve for the breeding and racing industry with an additional €50 million in funding.”
