Baden-Baden's G3 Ittlingen – Preis der Winterkonigin on Sunday has an open feel, with Gestut Karlshof's homebred Alwina (Ger) (Areion {Ger}) setting the standard after two wins in valuable auction races at Dortmund over seven furlongs and a mile Sept. 18 and Oct. 9, respectively. Gestut Rottgen's Well Spoken (Ger) (Soldier Hollow {GB}) is one of several unexposed types with abundant promise, as she showed when breaking her maiden over this trip at Dusseldorf Oct. 2, while Gestut Auenquelle's Arazza (Ger) (Areion {Ger}) boasts a listed success already albeit having been awarded the race by the stewards. Second to the British raider Tiburtina (Ire) (Holy Roman Emperor {Ire}) in Cologne's Winterkonigin-Trial over 7 1/2 furlongs Sept. 24, she was judged to have suffered sufficient interference to have been robbed of the chance of winning despite going down by a length.
