The Curragh Racecourse has teamed up with Dubai Duty Free to offer a range of enticements to ensure a strong field for the Dubai Duty Free Irish Derby, which will this year by run on Saturday, July 1.
With a total of €1.5 million on offer, the Classic will continue to be the most valuable race in Ireland with a first-place pot of €870,000 and prize-money continuing through to €15,000 for the eighth horse home.
The 'Win and You're In' initiative has also been extended to include additional races, as well as placed horses in certain races, with free entry being granted or the entry fee being refunded as applicable.
CEO of the Curragh, Derek McGrath, explained, “We have identified the key races which should generate runners for this year's Dubai Duty Free Irish Derby and we hope that this exciting initiative will maximise the potential for us to encourage owners and trainers to be part of Ireland's greatest and most valuable horse race.”
The first four home in the G1 Tattersalls Irish 2,000 Guineas, G1 Prix Du Jockey Club and G1 Derby at Epsom will all have any entry or supplementary entry fee that has been paid by their connections refunded should they run in the Dubai Duty Free Irish Derby.
The winner of the G1 Oaks at Epsom, G1 Tattersalls Irish 1,000 Guineas, G1 Prix de Diane, G2 Derby Italiano, G2 Prix Hocquart, G2 King Edward VII Stakes, G3 Airlie Stud Gallinule Stakes, G3 Tercentenary Stakes, Listed Nijinsky S. and Listed TRM Silver Stakes will be given a free entry for the Irish Derby with any entry or supplementary fees paid refunded if they run.
Furthermore, the winner of the G2 UAE Derby, G2 Derrinstown Derby Trial, G2 Dante S. and G2 Prix Greffulhe––all of which take place before the second entry stage for the Irish Derby––will receive a free entry, not including supplementary fees.
