Arrogate (Unbridled's Song), the world's highest-rated horse of 2016 and Winx (Aus) (Street Cry {Ire}), last year's highest-rated mare and grass runner, are tied atop the first edition of the Longines World's Best Racehorse rankings of 2017 with a rating of 127. The 4-year-old Arrogate earned his mark with a 4 3/4-length victory in the GI Pegasus World Cup Invitational at Gulfstream Park on Jan. 28, while Winx has won both starts this year: the G2 Apollo S. on Feb. 13 and the G1 Chipping Norton S. on Feb. 25. She heads to the G1 George Ryder S. on Mar. 18 in search of her 16th straight win, while Arrogate is scheduled for the G1 Dubai World Cup on Mar. 25.
Third in the rankings at 123 is Hartnell (GB) (Authorized {Ire}). Godolphin's Australian import often had to settle for second behind Winx last season and he filled that slot again in the Apollo.
Last year's G1 Hong Kong Vase winner Satono Crown (Jpn) (Marju {Ire}) earned a rating of 120 for his win in the G2 Kyoto Kinen on Feb. 12, his first start of the year.
