Winx (Aus) (Street Cry {Ire}) makes her eagerly awaited return to competitive action in the G2 Warwick S. at Randwick on Saturday and she will face a field of ten rivals, although Racing Australia has extended the window for nominating for the A$250,000 race until 11 a.m. Tuesday, in the hope of attracting some further opposition to the great mare. Currently there appears to be very little in the way of Winx posting her 18th consecutive win, she has upwards of 20lbs in hand and her prohibitive odds back that up. She will be joined in the race by three stablemates and other trainers with nominations are under no illusions to the task at hand; one example being John Thompson, trainer of Zanbagh (Aus) (Bernardini), who labeled the race the 'Winx Stakes'. Regardless of who takes on the Chris Waller trained star on Saturday, Australian racing fans will no doubt be thrilled to see her back in the fray in her buildup to land an historic third G1 Cox Plate.
