Eight rivals will stand in the way of Winx (Aus) (Street Cry {Ire}) as she bids for her 17th consecutive victory in the G1 Queen Elizabeth S. on Day Two of The Championships at Randwick on Saturday. Chris Waller's mare will jump from barrier three and her trainer reports her in rude health ahead of her weekend assignment. “She worked well this morning. Hugh Bowman rode her and was rapt. He said she was in the zone,” Waller told Racing And Sports. Further recent rain sees the ground remain soft but similar conditions haven't made any difference so far to Winx this campaign as she approaches the two year anniversary of her last defeat in the 2015 G1 Australian Oaks. “I've been surprised by how well she's handled the wet tracks. I always blamed the heavy track for her Oaks defeat so it was a worry. But I am hoping for a better track than last time,” the trainer added. Godolphin's Hartnell (GB) (Authorized {Ire}) will again line up against the mare on Saturday along with fellow British ex-pat Exospheric (GB) (Beat Hollow {GB}) who showed his well-being recently when third to Jameka (Aus) (Myboycharlie {Ire}) in the G1 The BMW at Rosehill Mar. 25.
