Australian super-mare Winx (Aus) (Street Cry {Ire}) is set to step out in an 850-metre barrier trial at Randwick July 29, Racing.com reported Monday. A winner of nine-straight races, including six at the highest level, the Chris Waller trainee is targeting the 1400-metre G2 Warwick S. at Randwick Aug. 20 for her return to the races.
“Her preparation has gone faultlessly so far, if it is possible to say she has come back bigger and stronger,” Waller told Racing.com. “She doesn't need to come back better, we just have to hope she gets back to that same form, which shouldn't be a problem at all. She has grown taller and has put on weight yet doesn't look too big in condition in terms of weight gain.”
Waller is hoping for three runs in Sydney–the aforementioned Warwick S., the G2 Chelmsford S. over 1600-metres and the G1 George Main S. going that same trip Sept. 17, with a possible start in the Oct. 8 2000-metre G1 Caulfield S. in Melbourne a fortnight before a G1 Cox Plate title defense at Moonee Valley.
G1 Golden Slipper S. winner and 'TDN Rising Star' Capitalist (Aus) (Written Tycoon {Aus}) is also set to trial the same distance, although a separate heat, at the Kensington track Friday. He is prepping for the Aug. 6 G2 Missile S. over 1200 metres also at Randwick.
