Wise Dan Completes the Sweep, Named Horse of the Year

For the second year in a row, owner and breeder Morton Fink's Wise Dan (Wiseman's Ferry) added a Horse of the Year title to his championships in the older male and turf male as the Eclipse Award ceremonies concluded Saturday evening. He becomes the first horse to win three Eclipse Awards in consecutive years and the first to repeat as Horse of the Year since Curlin in 2007 and 2008. Wise Dan won six of his seven appearances in 2013, including wins in the GI Maker's 46 Mile and successful title defenses in the GI Woodbine Mile, GI Shadwell Turf Mile and GI Breeders' Cup Mile. Fink suggested to the audience on hand that Wise Dan would be considered for races on the dirt as he stays in training at age seven†in 2014.
