Godolphin's unbeaten G1 Prix Marcel Boussac winner Wuheida (GB) (Dubawi {Ire}) has suffered a stress fracture to her right hind leg and will miss the G1 1000 Guineas and G1 Investec Oaks.
“It is very disappointing for all of us at Godolphin,” said trainer Charlie Appleby. “She had been doing so well in her work at home, and we were really looking forward to the Guineas.”
“The recuperation period is six to eight weeks, so she misses some important races,” Appleby added. “But if she progresses well in her recovery, we should be looking to having her back, running again, in the second half of the season. She is a high-class filly, as she showed so impressively at Chantilly last autumn.”
Bred by Darley out of the G1 Fillies' Mile winner Hibaayeb (GB) (Singspiel {Ire}), Wuheida broke her maiden at Newmarket in August and collected the Prix Marcel Boussac on the G1 Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe undercard on Oct. 2 in her second start. She was a best-priced 10-1 for both the Guineas and the Oaks.
