Wuheida to Miss QE II

Wuheida (GB) (Dubawi {Ire}) has been ruled out of Saturday's GI Queen Elizabeth II Challenge Cup at Keeneland due to a foot issue.

The 3-year-old has performed with credit for trainer Charlie Appleby after making a late return to action this term, with a runner-up effort to Roly Poly (War Front) in the G1 Falmouth S. on seasonal debut in July followed by a third in the G1 Preis der Diana (German Oaks). The chestnut, winner of last year's G1 Prix Marcel Boussac, was fourth in the G1 Matron S. last month and filled the same spot in the G1 Prix de l'Opera at Chantilly Oct. 1.

Appleby is hoping to get the Dubawi filly back on top form for next month's GI Breeders' Cup Filly & Mare Turf once she has fully recovered.

He said: “She flew out to America, but she got a corn on her foot. She breezed well on the turf, but she was getting a bit sore when cooling down. The vets were there and when they pulled off her shoe there was a corn there.

He added, “It has burst, but they can come back quickly and she is still quite sore. She would have needed to be on her A-game. She will stay in America now and head straight to Del Mar for the Filly & Mare Turf.”
