Dual Group 1 winner Yankee Rose (Aus) (All American {Aus}), who beat just one home as the A$1.95 favourite in Thursday's G1 Crown Oaks at Flemington, has emerged from that race with a bone chip in her left knee, trainer David Vandyke told Racenet.com.au.
“Yankee Rose was found to be lame this morning with filling in her left knee,” Vandyke said. “X-rays have revealed a chip. She will be operated on next Thursday. We hope to have her back for the winter.”
Yankee Rose had previously established herself among the best of her generation, finishing second in the G1 Golden Slipper before winning the G1 Sires' Produce S. at two. She added this season's G1 Spring Champion S. and finished third in the G1 Cox Plate before trailing in behind Lasqueti Spirit (Aus) (Beneteau {Aus}) in the Oaks.
