Yaupon's Stradale Outclasses Maiden Rivals at Churchill Downs

STRADALE (c, 2, Yaupon–Twitterpated, by Stormy Atlantic) hit the board twice during his time at Saratoga, running third and second July 19 and Aug. 30, respectively, against maiden company. He bobbled and was knocked around at the start of the GI Champagne Stakes Oct. 4 and ran a flat fifth by 12 lengths as Napoleon Solo (Liam's Map) won by 6 1/2 lengths.

Sent off here as the 9-5 favorite, Stradale bumped with an outside rival after tossing his head at the break but was able to make up good ground on the leaders and was on a clear lead from the five path entering the lane. Drawing off as Stable Hero (Vekoma) tried to make a race of it, Stradale won by 5 1/2 lengths.

A $1.3-million juvenile purchase this year from OBS April, the victor is out of a half-sister to GISW Stormy Lucy (Stormy Atlantic). Another of the dam's sisters is the more other SW Shifty (Medaglia d'Oro) and GSW Big Runnuer (Stormy Atlantic). Stradale is the first to the races for Twitterpated. He has a yearling half-brother by Classic Empire named Empire Penguin. The mare did not produce any 2025 offspring after visiting Cyberknife.
