The accomplished juvenile Zulu Kingdom (Ire) (Ten Sovereigns {Ire}), unraced since finishing seventh in the GI Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf last Nov. 1, made a triumphant start to his 3-year-old campaign under Flavien Prat.

Victorious in his Jun. 4 Saint-Cloud debut for trainer Andre Fabre, he next resurfaced at Saratoga with a win in the Aug. 29 GIII With Anticipation Stakes before stepping up to prevail in the Sept. 28 GII Pilgrim Stakes during the Belmont At The Big A meet. After a steady string of workouts on both dirt and turf at Payson Park in recent weeks, he appeared here and was sent off at 8-5 in a field of seven.

After stalking long shot Peace Cloud (War of Will)'s arduous pace set in :23.18, :46.16 and 1:09.19, he took over at the quarter pole and responded well to Prat's urging to hold Reagan's Wit's (Authentic) steady three-wide rally safe to gain a neck win. Revolutionnaire (Fr) (Penny's Picnic {Ire}) came on late to claim third.

The ridgling is a half-brother to the Saxon Warrior (Jpn)-sired gelding Zulu Warrior, SW-Fr, $108,275. His winning dam Zindziswa is out of Zinziberine, winner of the G2-Fr Criterium de Maisons-Laffitte as a 2-year-old. Zindziswa has an unraced 2-year-old Magna Grecia (Ire) colt named Zulu Chant (Ire) and has no reported foals since. Click for the Equibase.com chart or VIDEO, sponsored by FanDuel TV.
