AMARON LOOKS FOR DEJA VU
Racing is gearing up in Italy once again, and the milers take the spotlight in today’s G1 Premio Vittorio Di Capua at the San Siro. Defending winner Amaron (GB) (Shamardal) ships from Germany looking for his third group race win of the year, having taken the G3 Wettenleip Fruhjahrsmeile on seasonal debut Apr. 13, and the G3 Grosser Preis Der Wirtschaft two starts later June 22. The 5-year-old Andreas Lowe charge finished third in the G2 Grosser Preis Der VGH Versicherungen July 13, and was last seen finishing second in the G2 Oettingen-Rennen Sept. 3. L’Amour De Ma Vie (Dansili {GB}) is one of the more intriguing horses in the lineup. After a useful campaign in Dubai, where she won the G2 Balanchine S., the 5-year-old mare returned to be second in the G2 Duke of Cambridge S. at Royal Ascot June 18 before finishing fourth in the G1 Prix Rothschild Aug. 3. Priore Philip (Ity) (Dane Friendly {GB}) has been one of Italy’s flagship horses over the past year, having won the G1 Gran Criterium last year. The sophomore resumed with a San Siro conditions score Mar. 16 and after finishing second to Salford Secret (Ire) (Sakhee’s Secret {GB}) in the Matchpoint S., got back to his winning ways when last seen in the G2 Premio Carlo Vittadini May 25. Refuse to Bobbin (Ire) (Refuse to Bend {Ire}) caused an upset when winning the G1 Premio Presidente Della Repubblica GBI Racing May 11, and was last seen finishing sixth off a fourth-month layoff in a Cappannelle conditions event Sept. 14.
