Pharoah’ Works, Baffert Finalizes Plans

Zayat Stables LLC’s American Pharoah (Pioneerof the Nile), champion juvenile male of 2014, worked six furlongs in 1:12.40 yesterday morning at Santa Anita Park. Following the effort, trainer Bob Baffert confirmed that the colt will make his sophomore debut in the GII Rebel S. at Oaklawn Park Mar. 14.

“He went an easy three-quarters,” commented Baffert.

Also on the worktab Saturday morning was 2014 GI Breeders’ Cup Classic Champion Bayern (Offlee Wild), who completed a four-furlong move in :50 flat.

Baffert has previously said that Bayern is still considered possible for the G1 Dubai World Cup Mar. 28, but he has yet to make a final decision on the colt’s next start.
