Opportunity Found

After a run of three seconds in 2015, ‘TDN Rising Star’ Found (Ire) (Galileo {Ire}) re-emerges from a mid-summer break on Sunday to attempt to put herself on course for a profitable autumn campaign in The Curragh’s G3 Royal Whip S. Last year’s G1 Prix Marcel Boussac winner has been far from disgraced on her starts so far this term, losing out only by a half-length to Pleascach (Ire) (Teofilo {Ire}) in the May 24 G1 Irish 1000 Guineas here and by a neck to old rival Ervedya (Fr) (Siyouni {Fr}) in the G1 Coronation S. when last seen at Royal Ascot June 19. Joseph O’Brien cannot do the weight on Michael Tabor’s filly, who looks all the better now that the Coronation also-ran Arabian Queen (Ire) (Dubawi {Ire}) showed up the cream of the colts this week, so is on the stable’s fellow ‘TDN Rising Star’ Ol’ Man River (Ire) (Montjeu {Ire}). Much more disappointing in failing to add to his G2 Beresford S. success of last season, Susan Magnier’s bay–who was beaten out of sight in the May 2 G1 2000 Guineas at Newmarket and G2 Dante S. at York 12 days later–at least showed more promise when a latest fourth in the G2 King Edward VII S. over 12 furlongs at Royal Ascot June 19. “He was slightly disappointing in the early part of the season, but he’s been working nicely at home and I’m looking forward to seeing where we stand with him,” his rider said. “Found looks an exceptional filly and hopefully she’ll have a big finish to the season.”

Jim Bolger is always there to put a stick in the Ballydoyle spokes and it will be interesting to see how Godolphin’s late-maturing Answered (GB) (Authorized {Ire}) figures dropping back from the 14 furlongs over which he was second to the classy stayer Forgotten Rules (Ire) (Nayef) in Navan’s G3 Vintage Crop S. last time May 17.
