Plans On Hold For Sheikh Hamdan Pair

Angus Gold, racing manager to Sheikh Hamdan Al Maktoum has provided an update on some of the owner’s lesser seen stars of recent weeks. The Roger Varian trained Intilaaq (Dynaformer) looked a potential top level performer when easily accounting for the 110 rated Master Carpenter (Ire) (Mastercraftsman {Ire}) in the G3 Rose Of Lancaster S. at Haydock Aug. 8. However his season has now been curtailed due to a recent training injury which has forced him to miss his intended engagement in Saturday’s G3 Legacy Cup. “He’s knocked a joint,” reported Gold. “Roger will just get him right first before we decide what to do.”

The Dermot Weld trained Mustajeeb (GB) (Nayef) has not run since being beaten four lengths into fifth by Undrafted (Purim) in the G1 Diamond Jubilee S. at Royal Ascot and a recent challenge for the G1 Haydock Sprint Cup was also shelved. According to Gold, “He just wasn’t quite right and we’ve got to get him back fighting before we go again. Dermot just wasn’t happy with him in his last bit of work before Haydock, so we’ll just have to wait.” Although he ran well when sixth in the GI Breeders’ Cup Mile last year, Mustajeeb reverted to sprinting trips this year and proved his worth with a victory over Group 1 winner Maarek (GB) (Pivotal {GB}) in the G2 Greenlands S. at The Curragh in May.
