Tropics Out For The Season

Leading British sprinter Tropics (Speightstown) has been ruled out of action for the rest of the season. Dean Ivory’s stable star was last seen running a close fifth in the Stewards’ Cup at Goodwood in August having previously been denied by a nose by Muhaarar (GB) (Oasis Dream {GB}) in the G1 July Cup at Newmarket. Plans to run the 7-year-old in the G1 British Champions Sprint S. have been shelved. Dean Ivory reported, “Tropics is in good form, but he has had a little hiccup. He has got a bit of a sprained tendon and it is better if we don’t risk it with him and sit tight for next season. We thought about running him, but we thought it would be better to give him time off and bring him back in the spring. We have just got to be patient with him.” Tropics has been a dream horse for Ivory, who also owns the gelding. Bought at the horse-in-training sales at Tattersalls for only 2,500 Guineas, he has since won eight races and almost £500,000 in prize-money.
