A $510,000 KEESEP yearling, Tap It Rich was given a 3-1 chance for this elongated debut, but ran like 1-9 would have been more accurate. The lanky grey hopped at the start before rushing up to make contact with the rest of the field, taking the first turn very wide. He steadily advanced while still wide down the backside, and edged closer before blowing the second turn as well. Still looking like a winner despite the eventful journey, Tap It Rich cruised to the fore at the head of the lane and galloped home a 4 1/4-length winner. Candy Boy (Candy Ride {Arg}) was second. The winner is a half to Adriano (A.P. Indy), MGSW, $728,510; and Gold d'Oro (Medaglia d'Oro), GSP, $232,989. His second dam is GI Santa Anita Oaks winner Golden Treat (Theatrical {Ire}), and his third dam produced GI Belmont S. and GI Haskell Invitational winner Bet Twice. The winner's dam was purchased with Tap It Rich in utero for $250,000 at Keeneland November in 2010. Gold Canyon did not produce a foal in either of the last two years, but is in foal to Sidney's Candy and carrying a colt, according to the colt's breeder. Sales history: $510,000 yrl '12 KEESEP. Lifetime Record: 1-1-0-0, $28,800.
