‘Horn’ To Arrive in KY Saturday

Four-time Group 1 winner Golden Horn (GB) (Cape Cross {Ire}) is scheduled to fly to Kentucky Saturday for an engagement in the GI Breeders’ Cup Turf Oct. 31, according to Racing Post. Golden’s Horn campaign in Europe has been nothing short of remarkable, with the Anthony Oppenheimer homebred collecting wins in the G1 Investec Derby, G1 Coral-Eclipse, G1 Irish Champion S. and G1 Qatar Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe, and the sophomore stepped foot on the Newmarket heath for the final time Friday. He retires to Darley’s Dalham Hall Stud after the Breeders’ Cup.

“Golden Horn worked on Wednesday and did two canters under Robert Havlin on Warren Hill [Friday],” trainer John Gosden told Racing Post. “He seems in good form and will jet out of Stansted to Louisville in the morning. It’s a direct flight but a little way in [the] van at the other end.”

Discussing the track condition, Gosden added, “Firm suits us fine, we just don’t want too much rain over there. It’s a tight track over a distance of about a circuit and a half, but Golden Horn is pretty handy so should be fine around there. I haven’t looked at the opposition yet, I’ll worry about that when I get there on Wednesday.”
