Australian champion sophomore filly Delicacy (Aus) (Al Maher {Aus}) pulled up sore following her G2 Perth Cup victory at Ascot Saturday, reported Racing and Sports. The Bob and Sandra Peters homebred, who carried a record 130 pounds in the 2400-meter feature, was taken to a veterinary clinic for treatment Monday.
“She's pulled up sore in the front legs,” Peters told Racing and Sports. “She's absolutely out of the autumn and it maybe even means retirement, I don't know. We have to get the results. She won't be scanned and X-rayed until tomorrow [Tuesday].”
The West Australian-based Southern Hemisphere 4-year-old captured four Classics during a six-race winning streak during the '14/'15 season including the G1 Australasian Oaks and G1 William Hill S. A. Derby against males. The Grant Williams trainee surpassed the A$2-million mark with her win Saturday, having earlier captured the G2 C. B. Cox S. Dec. 19 and finished a nose behind homebred stablemate Perfect Reflection (Aus) (More Than Ready) in the G1 Kingston Town Classic this campaign.
