Now that the European sprinting scene has been given a shot in the arm by the introduction of notable 3-year-old contests and upgrading of the status of several races in the program, Sunday's G3 Prix Sigy at Chantilly takes on a greater significance and has duly been rewarded with a smart turn-out. From Britain is the G3 Cornwallis S. winner Quiet Reflection (GB) (Showcasing {GB}), who holds the strongest piece of individual form based on his convincing success in that five-furlong Newmarket speed test. She makes up a solid filly representation alongside the Wertheimers' Sasparella (Fr) (Shamardal), who captured the six-furlong G3 Prix Eclipse here in September having failed to stay an extra furlong when fourth in Deauville's G3 Prix du Calvados in August. Gerard Augustin-Normand again makes his growing presence felt here, with a duo headed by the Jean-Claude Rouget-trained G3 Prix Miesque winner Aboulie (Ire) (Exceed and Excel {Aus}) who demonstrated stamina when taking that seven-furlong contest at Maisons-Laffitte at the end of October. Rouget also saddles a rare representative of His Highness The Aga Khan's in a sprint and Saryshagann (Fr) (Iffraaj {GB}) earned his place by beating Money Maker (Spa) (American Post {GB}) in a 5 1/2-furlong conditions race at Fontainebleau Mar. 18.
