The three Korean horses set to take part in the S$250,000 Korean Racing Authority Trophy (1200m AWT) July 24 landed safely at Singapore's Changi Airport at 3:35 a.m. Friday morning and were transported via horse float to Kranji Racecourse, were they were later bedded down in the international stables.
“They're all good, they all travelled very well and were hardly sweating at their arrival at the Club, even if one of them was a little excited when he got off, but he quickly settled down,” said Dr Brenda Low, a veterinary surgeon for the Singapore Turf Club who examined the horses on arrival.
The trio is led by the 3-year-old New York-bred gelding Triple Five (Girolamo), a $30,000 graduate of the 2014 Fasig-Tipton Kentucky October Yearling sale who has yet to finish worse than second in six career starts. The bay, who does his best on or near the lead, enters the KRA Trophy off back-to-back victories over 1200 metres at Busan. The other Korean representatives are the US-bred Parang Juuibo (With Distinction), a six-time winner from 33 starts; and Always Winner (Kor) (Creek Cat), victorious in five of 18 career appearances.
Last year's KRA Trophy was annexed by the talented local sprinter Super Winner (Aus) (Kaphero {Aus}). The best finish among the three Korean invitees in 2015 was a five-lengths' sixth-placed effort from Nobody Catch Me (With Distinction).
