A Bullet for Shook Up
Regis Racing’s Shook Up (Tapit) turned in a bullet five-furlong work in :59 at Churchill Downs Sunday ahead of the May 1 GI Longines Kentucky Oaks. It was the fastest of 51 at the distance.
“She’s a tremendously talented filly,” trainer Steve Asmussen said. “I feel very good about all the time she’s had here at Churchill and how comfortable she is with the surroundings.”
Shook Up worked in company with stablemate Indian Rocket (Indian Charlie) and Churchill Downs clockers recorded internal fractions of :12 and :34.80 for the gray filly, who galloped out six furlongs in 1:12.60. Shook Up started her breeze one length behind her workmate and finished two lengths in front. A maiden winner, Indian Rocket covered the distance in :59.60, which ranked as Sunday’s second-fastest work at the distance.
Tabbed a “TDN RISING STAR” after a 13 1/2-length maiden win at Fair Grounds in January, Shook Up is coming off a runner-up effort behind I’m a Chatterbox (Munnings) in the Mar. 28 GII Fair Grounds Oaks.
