Adelaide Australian Plans Confirmed
ADELAIDE AUSTRALIAN PLANS CONFIRMED
Coolmore’s G1 Cox Plate winner Adelaide (Ire) (Galileo {Ire}) will remain in Australia under the care of trainer Chris Waller as originally planned, Coolmore Australia spokesman James Bester confirmed to Racing and Sports yesterday.
Trained by Aidan O’Brien through an international campaign that included a win in Arlington’s GI Secretariat S. and group placings in England and France and finally the Oct. 25 Cox Plate, Adelaide will be aimed at the A$4 million G1 Queen Elizabeth S. at The Championships in April. The 3-year-old is currently spelling at Coolmore’s Hunter Valley property, and Waller noted he had already visited the colt.
“I’ve been up to see the horse. He’s a fantastic individual,” Waller told Racing and Sports. “They put him out into the paddock while I was there and he moved so effortlessly. He’s a very athletic horse.”
Waller said he plans to travel to Ireland to discuss Adelaide’s training with O’Brien.
“I want to have a chat to Aidan to find out what we need to do to have him ready without over-racing him,” Waller added.
