Al Naamah Looks to Provide Al Shaqab Racing With More Delights
The promising TDN Rising Star Al Naamah (Ire) (Galileo {Ire}) is looking for her second win from two starts, this time at the group level in the G3 Prix d’Aumale at Chantilly today after a 10 week hiatus. The five million guineas Tattersalls purchase hopes to add further luster to a record that saw her take a conditions race at first asking over this course and distance June 23. If the Andre Fabre trainee performs favorably, her position in the G1 1000 Guineas market would seem secure. Al Naamah obtains the services of master reignsman Frankie Dettori taking over for Maxime Guyon.
“Her debut race was very good,” commented Harry Herbert, racing advisor for owner Al Shaqab Racing. “She has done well physically, as you’d expect her to do. She was running early enough for a filly bred the way she is and to win impressively as she did on her debut was pleasing. Andre has taken her time with her. She might have gone to Deauville, but he decided not to as the ground was so bad there. It was cut up ground, so he identified this race as her next slot, so we’ll see.”
Continued Herbert, “She’s in good shape. I’m sure whatever happens today she’s got an exciting career ahead of her. Let’s hope she can win a Group 3 on her second start and if she does, she’ll be [G1] Marcel Boussac-bound [at Longchamp Oct. 5].”
Among her six rivals is Shahah (GB) (Motivator {GB}), also owned by Al Shaqab. Freddy Head saddles Clairefontaine scorer Colonialiste (Ire) (Lord of England {Ger}), while Mario Hofer’s Moonee Valley (Fr) (Aqlaam {GB}) and the Pascal Bary-trained Night Of Light (Ire) (Sea the Stars {Ire}) have won their only starts to date. Thank You Bye Bye (Fr) (Zanzibari) and Kindly Dismiss (Fr) (Excellent Art {GB}), who have had plenty of racecourse experience, complete the field.
