Australian-Breds Top RTR Sale
Australian-bred yearlings filled the first three slots at Sunday’s CTS Johannesburg Ready To Run Sale in South Africa, with the leading pair making R2,000,000 (US$150,490). The first to hit that mark was a colt by Lonhro (Aus) who was bought by Markus Jooste’s Mayfair Speculators, fresh off a spending spree at Tattersalls October Book 1, from Summerhill Stud. Lot 60 was purchased for A$70,000 at last year’s Magic Millions National Weanling Sale by Byefarm Breeders. The co-topper was lot 115, a filly by Myboycharlie (Ire) from Balmoral Stud bought by Brian Burnard. That offering was a A$30,000 purchase at the Inglis Classic Yearling Sale earlier this year. The third-highest priced lot, a More Than Ready filly (lot 181), fetched R1,700,000 (US$127,917) from Rainbow Beach Trading. She was also a A$70,000 purchase, from Inglis’s Premier Sale.
A total of 160 juveniles were sold for an aggregate of R36,065,000, an average of R225,406 and a median of R110,000.
