Ed Bowen
Ed Bowen grew up in Fort Lauderdale, FL, attended the University of Florida, and transferred to the University of Kentucky in 1963 to start his career at The Blood-Horse while still in school. From 1968-1970, he served as the editor of The Canadian Horse before returning to The Blood-Horse as its managing editor. He remained with the magazine for 23 years, rising to the position of editor-in-chief. Bowen is the president of the Grayson-Jockey Club Research Foundation, a leading source of private funding for veterinary research benefiting the horse. Bowen has written 19 books on Thoroughbred racing and won the Eclipse Award for Outstanding Magazine Writing in 1972.
