Bill Mott to Appeal Suspension

Hall of Fame trainer Bill Mott has been suspended for 15 days and fined $1,000 for the finding of Flunixin and an overage of Furosemide in one of his runners, the New York State Gaming Commission announced Friday.

The horse in question, Saratoga Snacks (Tale of the Cat), finished sixth in a state-bred allowance at Belmont Sept. 20.

Saratoga Snacks has been disqualified from any share of the purse money and unplaced in the order of finish.

Mott told Daily Racing Form that he is appealing the suspension.

“They allow you to give 10 ccs of Lasix, and we only give three ccs, and I was standing there when the [veterinarian] gave it,” Mott told DRF’s David Grening. “My feeling is something’s not right. It’s not a slight overage.”
