In preparation for this weeks G1 July Cup at Newmarket, the Chris Waller trained Brazen Beau (Aus) (I Am Invincible {Aus}) is scheduled to work on the July Course Monday morning at 6.00am to familiarize himself with the track. The dual Group 1 winner in his native Australia was beaten in slightly controversial fashion last time in the G1 Diamond Jubilee S. at Royal Ascot when jockey Craig Williams chose a solitary route up the stands side of the track before being collared close home by Undrafted (Purim). One of the Godolphin retainees James Doyle will get the mount in the July Cup and his trainer Chris Waller is expected to be present for the workout at Newmarket, assuming he has no travel delays.
In other Newmarket news trainer Mike Dodds is hoping his Easton Angel (Ire) (Dark Angel {Ire}) can go one better in the G2 Duchess Of Cambridge S. on Friday. No match for the Wesley Ward trained powerhouse Acapulco (Scat Daddy) in the G2 Queen Mary S. at Royal Ascot, the filly still vindicated Al Shaqab Racing's decision to purchase a share in her beforehand by finising a good second. Dodds doesn't see the step up to six furlongs being an issue and commented; “She's in good form and the plan is to run, all being well. I think she'll stay. She was running on well at the end of a stiff five furlongs at Ascot. You'd like to think she'll be hard to beat, but you never know in these races.”
