‘HONEY’ BC F& M SPRINT BOUND
Southern Honey (Colonel John), second in the GII Thoroughbred Club of America S. at Keeneland Oct. 4, will be among the pre-entries for the GI Breeders’ Cup Filly and Mare Sprint at Santa Anita Nov. 1. Owned by Ashbrook Farm, the $155,000 KEENOV weanling and $180,000 KEESEP yearling is trained by Rusty Arnold and worked a best-of-84 four panels in :46.80 at Keeneland Saturday.
“We’re going,” trainer Rusty Arnold said. “I met with the owners [Glenn Bromagen, his wife, Sandy, and son Bo, who is the racing manager for Ashbrook] this morning. The filly is doing good and she came out of her work yesterday great.”
UNDRAFTED PREPS FOR BC TURF SPRINT
Grade III Jaipur Invitational S. hero Undrafted (Purim) worked a bullet five furlongs in :58.20, best-of-27 at Keeneland Sunday morning in preparation for a start in the GI Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint at Santa Anita Nov. 1. The Wes Welker owned chestnut breezed in company with To My Valentine (Fr) (Dyhim Diamond {Ire}) who is being pointed toward that venue’s GIII Senator Ken Maddy S. the same day for trainer Wesley Ward. The $50,000 KEESEP yearling is one of seven horses Ward is considering for the Breeders’ Cup stabled at Keeneland.
“My Friday horses [Oct. 31] will ship a little earlier and the rest will stay here until the 28th,” commented Ward.
