Against The Odds - Racing With Gordon Lord Byron, a film produced by young Tipperary filmmaker Nicholas Ryan-Purcell, will air at the Tipperary Excel Arts Centre Nov. 10 at 8 p.m. The film is about Tipperary native Tom Hogan and Gordon Lord Byron (Ire) (Byron {GB}), the horse he bought for €2,000 who went on to earn just shy of €2-million in prizemoney while racing worldwide. Foal Numbers Up In 2016

The numbers of foals registered in both Great Britain and Ireland up to the end of September are up on this time last year, according to the Weatherbys Return of Mares. The number of foals registered in Ireland thus far stands at 8,792, up by 587 (7.15%) from the same time last year. A total of 4,597, up by 131 (2.9%) have been registered in Great Britain. Autumn Sale Closes With Gains

Goffs UK's two-day Autumn Sale of yearlings and horses-in-training wrapped up on Tuesday with the horses-in-training session, which posted figures well up on last year. A total of 313 horses went through the ring, with 237 sold for £2,151,100 at a buyback rate of 24.3%, down 13 points from last year, when 190 were sold for £1,364,200 at a buyback rate of 37.5%.
