First French Black-Type Winner For Frankel In the Prix d'Aumale

Toulifaut was the first winner in France for her sire and became his first black-type winner here as she extended her unbeaten sequence with a degree of comfort for the ebullient Jean-Claude Rouget stable. Successful over seven furlongs at Clairefontaine July 9 and over 7 1/2 furlongs at Deauville Aug. 14, the bay was settled with just Holy Makfi (GB) (Makfi {GB}) behind early as that rival's rider struggled with a slipped saddle. Switched off the rail approaching the quarter pole, Toulifaut gained the lead at the furlong pole and...

Deep Impact Colt Two-For-Two After Chenes Test

Beaten a short head by Neguev (Ire) (So You Think {NZ}) before being awarded the race on debut over 7 1/2 furlongs at Deauville Aug. 9, Akihiro was first past the post and clear best this time as he tackled his first true examination to bring up a ninth renewal for Andre Fabre. Anchored with one behind early as High Alpha set a decent tempo, the homebred had at least four lengths to make up at the top of the straight with the German raider still turning the screw. The Faut Factor

Whereas the Prix des Chenes is a trial for the Jean-Luc Lagardere, Chantilly's G3 Prix d'Aumale serves as a pointer to the G1 Prix Marcel Boussac, and Thursday's edition features some intriguing fillies heading in that direction headed by Andrew-James Smith's unbeaten Toulifaut (Ire) (Frankel {GB}). Giving her sire his first winner in France from his first runner over seven furlongs at Clairefontaine July 9, she followed up without fuss over 7 1/2 furlongs at Deauville Aug. 14, but has more on her plate here. Sheikh Abdulla bin Khalifa Al...

Three To Watch

With the G1 Prix Jean-Luc Lagardere now at a mile, the G3 Prix des Chenes serves as an ideal prep for Arc day, and while Thursday's edition staged at Chantilly has only six runners, half are unexposed colts from major yards who could be anything. Leading trainer in this with eight successes, Andre Fabre saddles the Wertheimers' Akihiro (Jpn) (Deep Impact {Jpn}), who was beaten by a short head on debut by the subsequently disqualified Neguev (Ire) (So You Think {NZ}) over 7 1/2 furlongs at Deauville Aug. 9. That...
